I read through everything on this website and found that it is extremely accurate! It's more supportive and accurate than my support group. I also learned to identify some of my feelings I hadn't yet understood. It was very eye-opening to read that abuse is planned. I won't feel guilty anymore about having pretended to the people around me that my marriage was normal, now that I know it was a survival tactic. Here is another "society-supported violence" myth: that the victim should stay in the relationship for the sake of the children involved. Fact: the victim should leave with the children for their sakes. They are being victimized just by the act of witnessing abuse, and they are watching unhealthy role-modelling. I got myself and my children away, and although daily life is very hard, I have no regrets. The court battles, the lost friends, the loss of my home(and mortgage debt-yeah!), the attorney fees and etc, are all worth it! I'm the sole owner of my mind, soul, and body - not my ex-abuser. My children are more secure and are expressing affection. I have new friends who understand abuse. Dear fellow victims out there - don't stop looking for help, don't stop talking about what is happening to you, don't stop praying and hoping. You have worth. You are not powerless. Love doesn't abuse. Also, I went through 5 lawyers to get as far as I've gotten(custodial parent of 5 children over 1,000 miles away from their dad,and basic legal protection). Don't settle for a cheap lawyer who won't do what you need, especially when it comes to child custody and your legal rights. Find a lawyer who'll try to do what you need doing, and find a way to afford him her. I'll be making payments to my lawyer, parents, and a friend for a long, long time. My children and I are worth it.

my father bought the book everything men knew about taking care of themselvs befor women came along. I saw a web address on the back of the book and went there to find out that it was supporting this site. I must say that I wish there was somthing like this out there when I was a child and was molested. every thing that is contained in this web site I had to learn for my self and am really glad to see that there are people out there that are as commited to helping the world become a more peaceful place.
